Buzza takes four as Exmouth see off Plymouth in style

20:27 04 September 2014

Exmouth ended the Francis Clark Devon League season on a winning note putting Plymouth to the sword at the Maer with a superb display with the ball.

Exmouth batted first and lost early wickets before Bob Dawson, batting at number five, rescued things with a 124-ball knock of 60 that included five fours.

The other batsmen to make contributions were Trevor Anning (28), Andy Buzza (27) and David Lye (19) as Exmouth were bowled out for 189 with just two deliveries remaining of their 50 overs.

Trevor Anning and Matt Tarry opened the bowler and Tarry claimed wickets with the first and second deliveries of his first over to leave Plymouth’s run chase a troubled 2-2. That became 41-4 as Tarry claimed a third wicket and David Lye also struck.

First change Andy Buzza then took centre stage as he claimed a four wicket haul to finish with splendid figures of 4-28 from his seven overs. Plymouth’s late order tumbled to an all out total of 96 in just 26.5 overs. With one batsman hitting 43 and 27 extra’s it meant the other ten batters contributed 20 runs between them!
