With the combined score poised at 31 shots apiece, Peter Hillman, Don Huish and Harry Vanstone capped a pleasant afternoon’s bowling by scoring three shots to ensure Budleigh won.

A Vice-Presidents match, hosted by Exonia, included a successful rink from Budleigh.

Skip Harry Vanstone, Paul Griffin, Gerry Roberts and organiser Richard Cooper, led throughout and recorded a comfortable 27-13 victory.

Club captain Peter Burch took two rinks to the Mid-Devon Club in Tiverton and was rewarded with a three-shot win. This was a very friendly ‘friendly’, with the home side loaning Budleigh one of their members, who, along with Terry Escott, Fay Downend and Peter Nicholls won by 23 shots to 9.

Budleigh’s squad played the Seaton Seagulls in the Sidmouth evening league cup competition. After a slow start and trailing 4-10, Allan Cottle’s rink of Terry Escott, Don Huish and Paul |Griffin really hit their stride and romped away to triumph 25-12.

In the Symes, Robinson and Lee evening league, the Hawks, skipped by Dick Mitchell and Ron Tyler, took maximum points from club-mates the Falcons, winning on both rinks and by 21 shots

The opening matches in the club’s internal competitions are now being played.

Richard Cooper and John Dill are through to the second round of the pairs championship and Burges Stace and Leighton Burston have both won their first singles matches.
