What’s more this stunning response from the Robins youngsters meant that a season-long unbeaten record was blown away!

Ottery St Mary pitched up as the Division Three leaders having won all league and cup outings to date including a cup victory against the Robins just three weeks earlier!

The first period showed the hosts were in a confident and revengeful mood. Tom Rockey was marshalling his defence in his usual no-nonsense manner; the midfielders were finding the space to work their magic rattling the normally sound Ottery backline. Russel Williams struck twice from pin-point passes for a 2-0 half-time home advantage.

After the break the action was end-to-end. Both goalkeepers were forced to pull off exceptional saves. The Otters halved the deficit when Connor Swingler slotted a penalty. However, six minutes late the game was over as goals from Kai Guise and James Clarke put the Robins 4-1 to the good.

That’s how it remained in a match where the right attitude was applied and a deserved victory was achieved.

Budleigh: S Bochenski, H Moxey, B Lorains, T Rockey, J Clarke, S Smith, J Mingo, L Bland, E Anderson, L Lidell, R William, K Guise, O Cresswell, A Larsson-Carter, D Tomes, N Penhallurick, all (played).
