Budleigh Under-15s defeated Kenn in a Bradleys East Devon Youth League match that saw young Devon Short claim his first fivefer.
Budleigh batted first and school friends Gwyn Parks and Ed Doble made the most of some ideal batting conditions.
They were closing in on a century partnership when a mid-wicket mix up saw Parks run out on 41. He faced just 39 balls scoring four fours and a six.
Doble continued to bat on before reaching the mandatory retirement mark of a half century.
His 53 included seven fours.
Jacob Kellet was next to fall, in his case after striking 13 from just ten deliveries.
Alex Craib (19) and Ewan Hayter saw the innings to a conclusion and an imposing total of 163-3.
The Kenn openers made a confident start and plundered 30 from the first four overs before Sid Fereday made the breakthrough.
A change of bowling saw off-spinner Devon Short into the attack and he wasted no time in removing Arthur Stewart (3) and Stradling (2) in consecutive overs. Joe Gore then claimed a wicket before Jacob Kellet bagged a brace.
Ewan was next to claim a wicket before Short delivered the final over, one that saw him bowl a double wicket maiden to register his first ever fivefer as the reply ended on 88 all out.
The team face Honiton at their Mountbatten Park ground tomorrow (Friday) in a County Sports Cup tie.
