A two rink mixed friendly at Exonia resulted in a win for Budleigh by 34 shots to 31.
The chief architects of the victory were Tony Lim, Peter Burch, Diane Dixon and Dawn Graham whose 23–10 victory included a six on the 18th end.
The latest Symes, Robinson and Lee evening league fixture paired Budleigh Falcons with the in-form Madeira Blues, who, in the previous week, had beaten Sidmouth by 38 shots to 18.
This was a pivotal match and, with both sides harbouring championship aspirations, it was the Madeira side who took four of the six points on offer, winning overall by 38 to 32.
The victory came courtesy of Keith Weeks’ trio who won by ten shots while Terry Kelly salvaged two points for the Falcons with a hard-fought 20–16 victory.
Another competent display in the Exonia evening league saw Budleigh’s squad consolidate their position at the top of the Division Two table.
Don Huish, Leighton Burston, Paul Griffin and skip Peter Burch; the latter adequately refreshed during his bowling weekend in Torquay, overcame the Eagles by 24 shots to 12.
Budleigh raced into an early lead before being overhauled mid-match at 10-11, but thereafter it was one-way traffic with a further 14 shots scored and just a single in reply.
Promotion remains a strong possibility!
