The second Saturday of March turned out to be a fruitless day for all three Budleigh Salterton Football teams, writes SpursTom.
The Under-15s went down at CS Eagles, the 1st team lost away to Appledore and, most painful of all, the Budleigh Reserves hit rock bottom of the Fresha League top flight without kicking a ball in anger!
At Greenway Lane, the appointed match official called off the game against Topsham Town about half an hour before play was due to start, stating that the ground was too wet!
Events elsewhere did not help the Robins’ cause with results going horribly against the team. Perhaps the most significant was the Exmouth Amateurs away win at Morchard Bishop, whilst Thorverton were triumphant against University.
Though Clyst Valley lost, they have played fewer games and have four more points than the Robins.
This Saturday it’s a must win outing for Budleigh as they travel to fellow strugglers Clyst Valley.
