Totnes and Dartington 3, Budleigh Salterton 6
Budleigh Salterton scored more then two goals in an SWP League game for the third time this term when netting six in South Devon, writes Alan Beer.
This was a good performance by the Robins, though they had to come from behind to claim a fifth win of the league campaign.
The visitors opened the scoring on 11 minutes, albeit against the run of play when a loose pass on the left side allowed Charlie Baxidale to slot home from 18-yards out.
The Robins wasted no time in restoring parity and were behind for just six minutes when Jack Greenslade made space on the left side, and his cross was met by Callum Shipton who fired in from 20-yards.
However, the home side required just two further minutes to swiftly restore their lead with Dan Huren heading home from a corner kick.
Man of the Match Callum Shipton levelled the scores again just before the break when the home side’s defence failed to clear.
Seven minutes into the second half Shipton picked out Darren Carr who clipped the ball into the 18-yard box for Mark Lever to score and give the Robins the lead for the first time in the contest.
Shipton was unlucky when a shot from 25-yards cannoned back of the goal post. On 63 minutes Shipton turned provider getting round the home defence and setting up Danny Williams to slot home to put his sides two goals clear.
Lever headed home goal number five from a corner before Tom Coyn pulled a goal back for Totnes when he intercepted a poor back-pass from Brett Wright who then made amends when he fired in from 25-yards out to complete the scoring.
Budleigh: Hockhold, Bradshaw, Carr (Ellis), Everest, Woodin, Demetre, Lever, Shipton, Pannell, Williams (Wright), Greenslade.
On Saturday the Robins entertain Liverton (3pm).
There’s also first team action next midweek when the Robins host Chard Town in an Axminster Hospital Cup tie with a 7.30pm kick-off on Wednesday night (December 11).
