Budleigh Salterton reached Christmas having begun to turn their South West Peninsula League Eastern Division season round.
The Robins began their campaign back in sunny August with a single goal opening day success at Okehampton Argyle.
However, instead of that being the springboard to a strong start to the league term they then lost in quick succession going down 3-2 at home to Plymstock, losing 3-1 at Exwick Villa, 2-1 at home to Alphington and 3-2 at Teignmouth Town before they claimed their second win of the season, a 3-2 triumph at home to Axminster Town.
Just two of the next six were won, with victories at home to Newton Abbot and away at Liverton coupled with a draw at Appledore and defeats at Galmpton and home to Totnes and Dartington before their last defeat, a November, 23, 3-0 Greenway Lane loss to Stoke Gabriel.
Next up they won 6-3 at Totnes and Dartington and then thumped Liverton 5-0 at home.
Prior to the Boxing Day game with Sidmouth Town the Robins claimed a third straight win with a 2-1 home success against Crediton United on December 14.
It left the Greenway Lane men sitting sixth with 22 points from their 15 games exactly half way through their league campaign.
The first month of the new year offers hope that the Robins can push further towards the top three for they play teams sitting in the bottom five on three successive Saturday’s before a January 25 Greenway Lane meeting with table-topping Exwick Villa.
