Budleigh Ladies 8, Tavistock Ladies 2
Budleigh Salterton Ladies FC, with new manager Alan Barnsley in the dugout, took their league form into this 1st round of the Devon County FA Supplementary Cup when they entertained visiting Tavistock Community Ladies, a team they narrowly beat in the league last month, writes SpursTom.
The West Devon outfit took a second minute lead thanks to the persistent running of Sarah Martin, chasing a seemingly lost cause she got the better of the keeper to place the ball in the net.
The lead lasted only a short while as two goals in as many minutes edged the hosts in front.
A cracking through ball from Molly Jacobs sent Lucy Richardson to equalise before Abby Yukon set up Lucy Burch to score.
On the quarter hour it was all square with Sarah Martin lobbing the Budleigh keeper.
Molly Jacobs restored the home lead with a powerful header from a corner and then the Jacobs, Richardson and Yukon combination worked its magic again as Celine White scored to send Budleigh into the break 4-2 up.
Ten minutes into the second half the lead was increased with Lucy Richardson’s second. Tavistock suffered a blow with injury to Sarah Blowey, and, with no substitutes, the injured player had to go in goal!
The unfortunate Blowey was then beaten three times as White netted her second and Richardson scored twice more to take her tally to four to complete the scoring.
All 16 members of the squad took part in the action, naming Abby Yukon as Player of the Match, she must have covered every part of the outfield.
Squad: Kath Binmore, Chelcey Greasley, Kelly Browring, Molly Jacobs, Lucy Burch, Celine White, Lucy Richardson, Laura Atkinson, Stacey Rogers, Bethany Acca, Abby Yukon, Hannah Davey, Kayleigh Williams, Hanna Newton, Kallie Horner and Rebecca Barnsley.
