This week a friendly against Keynsham Tourists ended in Budleigh’s favour on four of the five rinks.

The visitors proved excellent company and a very enjoyable afternoon was enhanced when the home side won by 105 shots to 88.

Their scorecard shows a pair of sixes helped Gerry Roberts’ rink of Alf Wallen, Gordon Mansfield and Harry Vanstone to a comfortable 31–19 victory.

The other successful rinks were skipped by Rob Jerrard (+ 7), Stuart Butler (+ 3) and Paul Griffin (+ 1).

Feniton bought five mixed rinks for the second friendly of the week and returned home 101-84 victors.

The match was played on one of the best days of the summer, but only two Budleigh rinks shone as brightly as the sun!

Tony Stone skipped Margaret Butler, George Woolacott and Don Huish to a plus 13 result, having led from the start.

Stuart Spencer’s rink, 4–10 down after ten ends, then scored a seven and subsequently drew clear to finish 24–14.

The match to decide the winners of the Men’s Pairs competition, halted by rain last week, has been played to a conclusion.

Before a considerable and enthusiastic crowd ( at least five or six) the game was resumed at end nine and Don Huish and Tony Stone overcame John Vanstone and Gerry Roberts.

The Clubhouse will be restored to indoor mode on Monday (September 24) and any assistance would be appreciated from 9.30am.onwards.
