Budleigh resident Debbie Newson is going to be taking part in the 2019 London Marathon, running to raise funds for Oxfam.

However, before that, Debbie is taking on a challenge of looking to cycle 2,000 miles to raise £2,000.

She plans to hold various events at different venues and cycle on an exercise bike. The first such event will be outside (or just inside if it’s raining!) the Oxfam shop in Exmouth this coming Saturday (September 8).

Debbie says: “My aim is obviously to raise the money and run the London Marathon, which will be a first for me, but also to hopefully inspire others to get into exercise, something I’ve only just begun to do on this sort of scale!”

She continued: “I am a nurse and my husband is a GP, so encouraging others to live healthily is something close to our hearts.”
