Budleigh club men’s pairs final berth booked by Goddard and Cardy

There were two outings last week for the Budleigh ladies in the Over-50s Triples League, writes David Roberts.

Unfortunately, both games ended in defeats as the team lost to both Pinces Garden and Ottery St Mary.

In other action, the club took part in the men’s Madeira Invitation Coronation Cup and finished with a score of plus five in the round robin competition with a creditable top half finish.

In the club competitions, Brian Goddard and Andrew Cardy won through to the finals of the men’s pairs competition.

David Roberts claimed a semi-final slot in the men’s handicap whilst Paul Griffin was on top form to convincingly secure a semi-final berth in the men’s championship.

In the ladies’ 106 competition, Hilary Medley played well to impressively book a semi-final place.

The coming week sees mixed friendly fixtures against Honiton and Chardstock.

The men play St Thomas in the penultimate Over-60s match whilst the ladies play Crediton in the Over-50s.
