In the Coast Wealth Management Evening League, the Budleigh Buzzards met the Maderia Bluebirds and were beaten heavily, writes David Roberts.

The Buzzards lost on both rinks and overall to the tune of a 48-21 score line.

Neither rinks could achieve a foothold in their matches and with some excellent play from the Maderia team the win for them has propelled them into second place in the league.

After a quiet past week at the club, the ladies take on Axminster in a friendly on Thursday and on Friday Chardstock visit Cricket Field Lane.

Sunday sees a trip to Dawlish with the men playing in the first round of the Parrott Trophy against Dawlish home and away on Saturday.

Two more matches in the Evening League take place as the Budleigh Hawks have the opportunity to take top spot.

A delicious Sunday lunch at the club house was supported by almost 40 club members and friends and a big thank you to chief chef Mo Bond and her team for all their hard work.
