As the outdoor green closes the Budleigh bowlers kicked off their indoor season with the traditional Opening Day on Saturday when the club welcomed many of its summer members, but also welcomed back many bowlers who play elsewhere in the summer and bowlers who just play indoors, writes David Roberts.

With indoor captains Ann Vincent and Paul Griffin leading the morning and afternoon sessions, there were many fun moments as the bowlers tried to adjust to the faster surface.

Thanks to Mo Bond, Margaret Avery and Lilian Grainger for providing delicious lunchtime food. The season will be a busy one as the club maximises their excellent playing surface with rollups throughout the week, friendly matches against local clubs and league and competitive ties. The Budleigh Evening league gets under way this week when the Budleigh Falcons play the Exonia Eagles and two friendly matches against ISCA and Mid Devon start the season in earnest.
