Founded nearly three years ago by David Clarke (an ex South Devon League footballer and manager) as a fun soccer school teaching young children the basics of football, the Brixington Soccer School has gone from strength to strength.
Now boasting over 35 children registered with the club from age’s four to 10, the soccer school operates as a voluntary club, but in its short time has become affiliated with the Devon FA and now has three FA Level 1 Coaches and a host of volunteers providing various supporting roles.
The Soccer School is very much about football in the community says chairman and head coach David Clarke, and gives young children an opportunity to start to learn the game without the pressures of playing competition football.
Sticking with its community theme, Clarke is keen to point out that this would not be possible without the support from Brixington Primary School and that’s not to mention the many volunteers including his wife Vicky as treasurer that has helped the club to grow and become such a professional outfit so quickly. In particular, he pays tribute to the commitment from coaches Lee Bache, Paul Brown and Andy Waiton, Paul Gosling as welfare and not forgetting and more importantly, Danielle and Tristan Bassett for their tea making expertise!
One of the more recent stages in the clubs development has been to secure club sponsors BMobile who have been fantastic in supporting the purchase of a brand new kit for the entire soccer school which again demonstrates the support the local community gives to this venture. Clarke also thanks Duck and Run cricket supplies in Paignton for supplying the kit.
