Brixington Blues 7, Heavitree Tornadoes 2

Brixington Blues Under-12s strike pairing of Jake Pond and Jake Yarwood scored five times between them to guide their team to a seventh success of the league season and they sit fourth in the table just two points behind leaders West Hill Wasps.

George Salter opened the scoring after some clever approach play by Jake Pond on the left who crossed for Salter to rifle the ball home at the far post. The Heavies responded well, but got no change out of the organised and disciplined Blues back line.

A brace of penalties in quick succession were awarded to the Blues with Pond slotting the first and Yarwood the second. Pond scored again before the break and the Blues trooped off at the interval with a 4-0 advantage.

The visitors made a good start to the second half and two quick-fire goals put them right back into the contest. However, stung back into action, Blues got back onto the front foot led by Pond and Yarwood who caused the Heavies defence no end of problems and scored another each to take their side into a 6-2 lead, with Pond chalking up his hat-trick with a superb solo effort.

Just before full-time the hard-working Lucas Feduzi was rewarded for his tremendous shift with a goal when he cut inside the full back before unleashing a fierce drive to put a polished seal on a very god day for the Blues.

Josh Hockings, Ben Bolwell, Lucas Feduzi, Ollie Holmes and Charlie Levi all worked well for the team and deserve credit for their efforts.
