Brixington Blues 1, Feniton 2
Blues Under-12s were edged out by the odd goal in three in a thrilling derby game.
The visitors enjoyed the best chances during the early exchanges and deservedly took the lead mid way through the half. Blues were quickly back into the contest with some fine attacking play during which time midfielders Adam Jenions and Tom Pearson delivered several defence-splitting passes which, unfortunately, could not be finished by the Blues attack. Hard working skipper for the day Kyle Webb came closest to leveling the score. Juts before the break Feniton doubled their lead.
The second half saw Blues press with Matt Garnett going close on a number of occasions, but he couldn’t quite get the better of the impressive Feniton keeper.
Midfielder Asleigh Parsons enjoyed a lively second half with many foraging runs into the opponents half. The Blues were finally rewarded for their endeavor when striker James Bridge smashed the ball home.
The goal spurred Blues to a new gear, but back came the visitors and it needed some resolute defending from right back Owen Brinkworth and confident handling by keeper Sam Hill to keep the visitors at bay.
Blues continued to press for an equaliser, but could not manage it before the whistle was blown.
Outstanding player of the day for the Blues was debutant Oscar Davies at centre back who demonstrated great enthusiasm and led by example to his new team mates.
