The Under-11 East Devon derby between Brixington Blues and West Hill Wasps proved to be a very entertaining one, writes Alan Diprose.
The Blues players were determined to show the watching crowd what they could do, and with Will White leading the line, they began to attack from the off. Tom Humphry and Will White both went close, before a fantastic six-player move from Blues nearly resulted in the opener.
Isaac Davies and Max Rickards worked hard in midfield, and a long range Luke Buck effort went wide.
Just before half-time, Will White fed Sam Diprose and he finished well with his left foot.
Blues made some half time changes, and were soon reeling from two quick West Hill goals. Ethan Allen scored the first with a crisp strike past Will Cooper.
Blues dusted themselves down and got back to playing the ball around. Tom Humphry levelled the scores with a long range strike. Both sides then tried to win the game, but it ended 2-2.
Both Managers commented that the game was played in the right spirit and could not remember one foul.
Kye Wartnaby had a super game at left back.
This Saturday Blues entertain Sidmouth Warriors in another derby game.
