West Hill Wasps 4, Brixington Blues 3
Brixington Blues Under-11s made the short journey to West Hill Wasps for the return match, writes Alan Diprose.
Blues exploded into action with two early goals. First Sam Diprose cut in from the left and saw his shot saved on the line, but Matthew Rye was on hand to score. Then, after seven minutes Will White opened his account for the season with a neatly taken goal after good work from Max Rickards. Blues early raids stung wasps into action and they mounted a great comeback.
By half-time they had scored no less than three times, to take a 3-2 lead.
Blues normally play better in the second half and stepped up the pace. Will Cooper in goal pulled off more fine saves, and Luke Buck had a commanding game at centre back.
Just as it looked like Blues would get back into the game a wonder strike from Ethan Allen (the Wasps’ manager’s son) from distance, gave Will Cooper no chance. Blues kept on pressing and Will White scored his second of the game to make it 4-3, but time beat Blues and they were unable to get the draw that their play deserved. Bideford Blues are the visitors this Saturday morning for a cup tie.
