Withycombe Under-9s travelled to Paignton for their latest action which saw them win one and lose one.
The first game produced a narrow 7-6 defeat against a well-organised team on a pitch much larger than the one the Withy youngsters are used to.
Harry Bennett took the try scoring honours with a hat-trick whilst there were single scores from Paddy McGuiness, Erin Asselman and Alfie Gillard.
The second game saw Withycombe produce an excellent collective performance as they ran out 5-2 victors.
A most pleasing feature of this performance was the way the Withy youngsters began to find their feet with powerful tackling against much bigger opponents.
Harry Bennett crossed for a couple more ties whilst Ollie Hempstead, Jack Cortizo and Erin Asselman bagged one each.
The Man of the Match award went to Joseph Bowden who showed some great tackling skills and a real hunger for the game.
