Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club held its annual senior awards event on the last club opening night of the season and there was a very good turnout, writes Kevin Curran.
Cub chairman Neil Rice opened proceedings thanking his committee for all their hard work and presented bouquets to Julie Marks ,Carole Spalding and Tracie Gillies for their efforts during the season.
The first eleven batting award went to Bob Dawson whose collective total for the season was only 35 runs short of being the Premier League’s highest scorer!
Dawson also shared the award of 1st XI Players Player with James Burke who in turn shared the senior side’s bowling award with club captain Joel Murphy.
Second team captain Ben Carter won the 2nd XI batting award with Joe Marley winning both the second eleven bowling award and the Players Player awards.
The most improved player trophy went to Adam Jones whilst Tracie Gillies was honoured with the Clubman of the Year trophy.
At the awards Carole Spalding presented the club with a cheque for £535 from the raffles which she ran during the season.
