The Maderia Bluebirds sit clear at the top of the Budleigh Coast Wealth Management Evening League as we reach the halfway point of the season, writes David Roberts.

With five matches played, they are followed by the Exonia Eagles with the Maderia Robins in third place.

The Budleigh teams are not fairing well at this stage with last year’s winners, the Buzzards, propping up the table!

In the recent match against the Maderia Robins, the Buzzards were totally outplayed on both rinks losing overall 45-15.

The Falcons are the best-placed Budleigh team on 14 points with a game in hand on the leaders and they will be looking to close the gap as they take on the Hawks this week.

The Hawks play twice in a couple of days with a match against the Madeira Robins.

There is, of course, still all to play for, but as we approach the Christmas break we look to at least one of the Budleigh teams to put some pressure on the top three clubs.
