There was mixed fortunes for our two local rugby sides with Exmouth winning handsomely whilst Withycombe saw their marvellous unbeaten start to the new season unceremoniously ended at the only side to top them in the table.
The Cockles were 65-12 home winners over Oxford Harlequins with Tom Kill, Andrew Powell and Jon Fabian crossing the visitor’s line twice in a 11-try jaunt.
Powel also tucked away five conversions.
At Saltash the contest was a lot closer than the 45-21 result that went against Withycombe.
Withy scored three tried through Mike Symons, Mike Richard and Neal Williams.
Make sure of your copy of the Exmouth Journal - out next on Thursday (September 9) for full match reports and post-match comment.
