Bank 3, Flying Horse 4
Bank United suffered their first defeat of the league season in an entertaining contest with their nearest rivals.
The Exeter-based side were at full strength whilst United had half a dozen regulars missing!
The deadlock was broken, against the early run of play, when Mathieu Peligry crossed for Warren Vaughan to put bank ahead.
The visitors responded powerfully and levelled courtesy of a 50-yard strike, and that’s how it stayed through to half time.
Two minutes after the re-start Bank keeper Graham Lewis launched the ball up field and Jamie Drummond gathered the ball before thumping it home from 40-yards!
Five minutes later gloves man Lewis had to be replaced and Warren Vaughan took over between the posts with Steve Noon introduced from the bench.
In the 55th minute Phil Sanders broke clear of his marker and slotted past the keeper to put Bank 3-1 to the good.
That drew another stunning response from the visitors who swiftly halved the deficit and then levelled with a header from a corner and took a 4-3 lead with all three goals coming in a 10-minute spell!
Late on a Sam Weeks free-kick was narrowly wide of the mark.
The Man of the Match award went to Jamie Drummond for some super battling in midfield.
This Sunday United have a cup tie at Division Two side Dolphin with a quarter final place at stake. The game is being played at the King George VI playing field in Exeter with a 10.15am kick-off.
