Bad week for the two Budleigh FC teams in the Woodbury Skittles League

It has not been a good week for the two teams from Budleigh Salterton Football Club in League A of the Woodbury and District Association Skittles League, writes SpursTom.

Last Wednesday both Cock Robins and The Robins were in action, and may have blown away their chances of taking the leagues’ top prize that of Premier Champions falling behind in the race to catch Exiles.

Cock Robins went down to Loose Cannons away at Ottery St Mary. At the same time, The Robins passed up a good opportunity as they wobbled in the final leg to lose by one pin to Agricola. Was this a case of home form jitters again?

Stepping down into League C Terror Pins with high scoring from David Hicks, Tony Gooding and Henry Yates showed doomed Otterton Rollers no mercy as they thumped them by a massive 76 pins.

Team captain Chris Gatter, who himself got 60, was very pleased with the performance in what he believes might be the clubs record pins margin victory.

Of the other teams based in Budleigh Salterton and East Budleigh, many like Rolle Rebels, Cricketers, Olive’s 8, Clangers and the Bantams are well placed in their respective leagues. Silly Billies, Steamers, Ticklers are about mid-table, whilst Stumpers, Prize Guys, Loungers, Devonex Rovers, Ravens and the Henbirds could do with moving up their tables.
