AVR’s Diane and Graham Newton joined with the other 250 hopeful runners to run the 14th Cockington Christmas Caper.

This was a seven-and-a-half mile off-road race with a circular course, which sets off from Cockington House, and takes in some very muddy and slippery trails, with many ups and downs, through woods, tracks and fields.

The race was won by Thomas Pain in 50:34. Graham managed to finish 40th, in 1:10:33, winning the first male vet over 65 prize despite a couple of falls and ending up covered in mud.

Diane ran a more measured race and finished 205th in 1:47:13, having managed to stay on her feet, very muddy but unscathed, pleased to be back at last to off-road running.
