Exmouth Town 5, Tavistock 0
Town scored five second half goals to maintain their South West Peninsula League title push, writes Steve Birley.
Despite a goalless first half Southern Road witnessed 45 minutes of end-to-end action. Both sides looked to get the ball down and play. James Ansell and Dan Boere both went close for Town, but it was the visitors who arguably had the best of the chances, missing the opportunity just before the break.
It was no doubt another of the half-time management-led conversations in the Southern Road dressing room that did the trick.
It took just three minutes from the restart for the home faithful to be warming their hands as Ansell rose well to nod home Adam Fowlers cross.
Two minutes later the former Willand Rovers player repeated the scoring act, this time heading in a corner by another former Willand player, Ian Patchett.
Thirteen minutes from time the home goal frame was struck, but a minute later, after a lighting-quick raid, Lloyd Gardner stroked home a penalty awarded after he had been hauled down in the area.
Two minutes later Ace High made it four and it was High who put a polished seal on proceedings when he sprinted away before slotting the ball home.
