Woodbury Park staged a Team Stableford Accumulator last week, writes Carole Pye.

The winners of the seniors’ roll-up with 81 points were Martin Creed, Bob Garton and Terry Tilbury. Just one point behind, Tim Rufus, Steve Andrews and Andrzej Sobczak took second place with 80.

The ladies’ roll-up was divided between the Acorns Trophy played on the shorter course and a stableford on the Oaks course.

The winner of the Acorns trophy was Bridget Andrews with a very impressive 47 points ahead of Carol Thomas who scored 43 and Margaret Marsh (42) who also won nearest the pin. Joan Millard took the prize for the longest drive.

There was strong support for the weekend competition which was played in aid of the blind. The start was held up because of fog, but the majority of players stayed and were rewarded with beautiful sunshine.

After count-back Chris Hatherly (72) won the first division edging out Mark Newton whilst John Dick was third with 73. The second division was won by Neil Rice (70) followed by Neil Howe scoring 72.

Alex Freer (66) was the third division winner with Paul Crocock runner-up on 68.

In the ladies section the Silver and Bronze division were combined and, after a hard fought game, Sara Beaven was the overall winner with 71 just ahead of Olly Foat (72).
