Wreath holders praised in Budleigh and other news

Mayor Courtney Richards has praised the new wreath holders set up at Budleigh’s war memorial by the Royal British Legion. Read this and more.

LONGBOAT RAID: Police are appealing for information after Budleigh’s Longboat Café suffered a break-in overnight on Saturday, November 24.

Officers said the offenders stole the cash register and the takings from the seafront building.

The cash register was later discovered behind a bench on Madeira Walk, at the junction with Fore Street Hill.

Police Community Support Officer Donna Baker said: “The offenders caused significant damage to the property.”

Devon and Cornwall police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the break-in, or from witnesses.

Rolle Podiatry and Health is offering a free podiatry or complementary therapy appointment, with donations going to Hospiscare.

COMMMANDO CURRY: The catering section of the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines Lympstone will be serving up a sumptuous curry this Saturday at what promises to be an exceptional evening of Indian entertainment.

The meal is being prepared by Royal Marine Justine Cole and Sgt BJ Broadhurst.

Taking place at 6pm in the Public Hall at Budleigh Salterton, “An evening in India” is in aid of Cancer Research will consist of a speaker from Bath Travel, a traditional dancer, a quiz, a curry and a raffle with some fantastic prizes available.

Tickets cost £18 each and are available from Bath Travel.

CRICKET CLUB: The AGM of Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club takes place on Monday, December 10 at Budleigh Salterton Football Club from 7.30pm.

TABLE TOP SALE: A sale at Age Concern Budleigh Salterton, Norman Centre, Station Road, is being held on December 12.

It will include arts, crafts and knitted items made at the Monday craft club.

A raffle, other stalls and refreshments will be available.
