The car park at Woodbury Castle has been closed, as part of restoration works to the Iron Age hill fort.

Landowner Clinton Devon Estates says access on foot is being maintained and other car parks in the area are still open.

It says the parking restriction has been put in place to ensure the safety of visitors and workers, and to prevent damage to private vehicles.

The length of time for which the car park will be closed has not been confirmed.

The restoration project is being undertaken by the East Devon Pebblebed Heaths Conservation Trust, in association with Natural England, Historic England and Devon County Council’s historic environment team.

Members of the public are said to be welcome to visit the area to see the work in progress, and guided walks will be arranged so people can learn more about the history of the monument and why the work is needed.
