Reports a smell of burning was coming from a home in Withycombe Raleigh in the early hours of Wednesday morning prompted a visit from Exmouth’s firefighters.

Crews arrived at Withycombe Village Road home shortly after 1am where they found a small fire had broken out in an electricity meter cupboard in a communal hallway.

Firefighters used dry powder to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots before handing over to Western Power Distribution.

The fire service said the cause of the fire was thought to be accidental.
