VINTAGE FUNDRAISER: A wine-tasting evening is being held to raise money for Lympstone Village Hall.
The event is being organised by the village’s tennis club, and takes place at the hall on Saturday, November 17, at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £15, and are available from Lympstone Post Office.
ALARM REMINDER: Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service is warning homeowners to make sure carbon monoxide alarms are fitted to their properties.
According to new research for the Carbon Monoxide – Be Alarmed! campaign, only 39 per cent of people say they have a carbon monoxide alarm at home – and the true figure could be even lower, as some mistakenly believe their smoke alarm can detect carbon monoxide.
Carbon monoxide is an invisible, odourless gas, and it kills around 50 people a year in the UK, with at least 4,000 more treated in hospital.
The fire service says carbon monoxide alarms are available from many DIY stores, supermarkets, high street shops or directly from energy suppliers, and can cost as little as £15.
