IT WAS definitely a bloke thing as a new Men’s Shed recently held an open day at Clayton House in Littleham, near Exmouth.

Apart from the delights of bacon butties, tea and chat, it was a chance to see what the project had to offer.
Visitors were able to brush up on their DIY and computer skills. There was also a club room with a pool table, comfy chairs and darts.
The new club – which has now been opened officially – has been launched by Exmouth’s Open Door, with help from East Devon District Council’s community development team.
It draws on the experience gained from similar projects around the world, providing a club to promote social interaction and to reduce depression-related illnesses in older men.

Councillor Jill Elson, EDDC’s cabinet member for sustainable homes and communities, said: “This project has the makings of a fantastic initiative which could make a big difference to the people of Littleham.”
The Men’s Shed opens Mondays-Wednesdays, 10am-4pm, at Clayton House, Salterton Road, Exmouth, EX8 2PD.
