We’ve put together this gallery of fantastic photos that our readers have been sharing with us over the week and if you would like to get involved and start seeing your pictures in print/online then join iwitness24, our community of local photographers, at: eastdevon.iwitness24.co.uk.

PHOTO CHALLENGE: We regularly set our readers a photo challenge to have a go at and the next theme is ‘Signs of Autumn’. We are looking for your pictures of autumnal scenes from any East Devon location. To enter go to eastdevon.iwitness24.co.uk and upload your images to the East Devon ‘Photo Challenge’ group and we’ll include them in an online gallery and possibly in print.

I heard that the legendary Flying Scotsman was travelling up the Exe Estuary en route to Exeter so I went down to the Exe Trail this morning to take a photo of it as it approached Starcross. Exmouth's sandy beach is one of the finest in the South West and a refuge for many more wildlife species than we realise. In summer watch out for these beautiful Pied Wagtails (Motacilla alba) scurrying along the beach catching storm flies and bugs. Taken at 10.00 on Monday 8th October in Exmouth, looking towards Exeter whilst waiting for Flying Scotsman to appear from Dawlish! It was misty, cloudy and grey, I was using a long telephoto lens, all of a sudden a ray of sunshine broke through the clouds and lit up the cathedral, making it look ethereal! I clicked the photo and within five seconds it was gone!
