Police in Honiton are urging residents to make sure valuable items are removed from their vehicles following thefts of satellite navigation systems.

Police Community Support Officer Darren England said: “It’s easy to forget that items such as sat navs and mobile phones are on display in your vehicle, especially if you’re not leaving it for a long time but it only takes a matter of seconds for a thief to take these valuable items from the car.

“All property should either be removed or stored out of sight.

“Our advice is to lock your vehicle at all times, close windows and doors and to park your vehicle in a safe place.”

Residents are also urged to security mark valuable items with a postcode and house number, and register items.
