Voters in East Budleigh and Bicton are being given the chance to have their say on new sports equipment for the parish.

£3,450 is available to spend, thanks to Section 106 contributions from recent housing developments.

Last year parishioners were asked to suggest what the money could be spent on, and now the two most popular suggestions – a permanent outdoor table-tennis table and a small outdoor gym – are being put to the public vote.

This will take place at East Budleigh Village Hall on Saturday (June 14) between 11am and 3pm.

Residents of any age can vote, and East Devon District Council, which is running the process with East Budleigh with Bicton Parish Council, says it will make sure that the final vote is representative of the actual population of the whole parish and all age groups.

This may mean further voting events are needed to allow more residents of certain ages or locations to vote.

Councillor Iain Chubb, EDDC’s cabinet member for the environment, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the people of East Budleigh and Bicton to really make a difference by deciding which new sport facility they get.

Parish council chairman Jennifer Ware said: “It is imperative that we have as many parish members – of all ages – to attend this voting scheme, which will give the village another excellent outside sports amenity.”
