Budleigh Salterton’s traffic group has scored a victory for residents who are concerned about ‘dangerous’ parking outside their homes.
A traffic order has been rubberstamped allowing for new and extended double yellow lines to be added to East Terrace.
New parking bays and access protection markings will also be added.
Double yellow lines will be added to the junction of Meadow Road and West Hill as well as new loading lines on Marine Parade/South Parade to alleviate parking problems/congestion during the summer months. New loading lines will also be added at St Peter’s Church.
The new lines in East Terrace follows concerns by Jeannette Pollock, the East Terrace Neigbourhood Watch co-coordinator, and resident Peter Foreman telling the town council that cars frequently blocked in their drives through poor parking.
The town council’s traffic group then saw the problems for themselves last sumer during a site meeting.
Town clerk Jo Vanstone said: “The work on East Terrace will extend some double yellow lines that are already there and putting in a lot more.
“Bays will be created - two spaces will be made opposite number 10 and three spaces by number seven.”
Mayor Courtney Richards said: “All this is a result of our traffic group suggesting these improvements.”
