Lisa ‘takes the best of blues, country, gospel and soul, and utterly transforms them’

Mississippi native Lisa Mills is performing her Southern blend of blues, country, gospel and soul music at Otterton Mill as part of her ongoing Europe And Beyond tour.

According to her website, Lisa “takes the best of each genre and utterly transforms them. By taking all those ingredients and adding the occasional dollop of jazz inflection, Mills serves up her own savoury-sweet mix that goes beyond the expected.”

Lisa has won praise from music critics in the US and was described by the musical director of the Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival, Jason Elliott, as “a legend … one of the best ambassadors that the state of Mississippi could ever wish for”.

She is only playing five venues in the UK, and Budleigh is the only one in the whole south-west region.

She will be at Otterton Mill on the evening of Thursday, 27 September. Tickets are available from the Mill, 01395 568 521, email
