09:19 16 April 2014

A man from the Exmouth area has died in a road traffic collision in Topsham, police have confirmed.

The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon at approximately 3.40pm, at the junction between Exeter Road and Retreat Drive, between a Jeep car and a Suzuki motorcycle.

Police say the dead man, aged 23, was a pillion passenger on the motorcycle.

The rider of the motorcycle also received serious injuries.

Police say the incident happened as both vehicles were travelling in the same direction, heading out of Exeter towards Topsham.

A lengthy road closure was enforced while emergency services attended.

Investigating officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact them by calling 101, quoting log number 453 of 15/04/14.
