An Exmouth charity which helps suicide-bereaved families has been visited by a television personality.

Pete’s Dragons, based in Exeter Road, was visited by Absolutely Fabulous star Jennifer Saunders this week.

She was in Exmouth to film a segment for this week’s Countryfile, looking at how Comic Relief funding has been used.

Alison Hill, chief executive officer of the charity, said: “We were delighted to be chosen for this opportunity to highlight the fantastic benefits that Comic Relief funding can bring to organisations. It was a pleasure for both Pete’s Dragons and our beneficiaries to be able to meet Jennifer and explain to her the charity’s purpose and achievements.”

Pete’s Dragons has received funding throughout the year to furnish their treatment and therapy rooms.

Filming took place at the charity’s headquarters in Exeter Road, on Exmouth beach and at the Exeter Forest School, where the charity regularly takes family groups as part of its bereavement services.

Countryfile airs on Sunday (March 19) from 7pm.
