A Budleigh charity has raised £10,000 for neonatal causes by holding its second annual ball.

The Harry Cunningham Trust held the second Harry’s Ball at Exeter Chiefs’ Sandy Park ground, with 240 guests in attendance.

The charity was founded by Budleigh couple Niki and Jamie Cunningham, after the death of their newborn son Harry in 2012.

Having been welcomed with champagne and singing by Damian James, guests heard a talk by Niki about the charity’s plans for 2014, and saw its new promotional video.

Niki then handed out awards to some of the charity’s top supporters, before guests enjoyed a three-course meal, were entertained by street dance act Insomatics, and danced to music by Exeter band The New Heroes, with the evening hosted by toastmaster Nick Goodman.

Guests also enjoyed sweets provided by Traditional Candy Cart Co, and a Clicks N Pics photo booth.

Overall the evening raised £10,000 through various competitions, a raffle and a silent auction, more than tripling last year’s total of £3,000.

The evening was sponsored by 25 local businesses and all the guests left with a goodie bag.

Plans for the third Harry’s Ball are already underway, with tickets going on sale in July, and the charity will be giving first refusal to this year’s guests.
