TRANSITION Town Exmouth has been branching out again.

The group recently planted 30 trees at a site off Pound Lane, opposite Greenfingers Garden Centre.

This follows two previous tree planting sessions on the same site in 2012 and 2013, aimed at making the area “more aesthetic, more beautiful and to combat carbon emissions”.

“The weather was fine and everyone enjoyed themselves and worked hard,” said TTE organiser Elinor Scott. “The three children were particularly helpful.”

The new trees were supplied by Exmouth Town Council and a TTE member. Varieties included hazel, willow, field maple, rowan, oak and silver birch.

As well as planting the saplings, the volunteers also maintained the trees that TTE had planted in previous years.

“This is now our third consecutive year of planting in the park,” said Elinor. “TTE would like to thank Exmouth Town Council for providing the trees and East Devon District Council for making the site available.”

For further details of TTE’s work, visit the group’s website at www.transitiontownexmouth.co.uk, email tte.inform@gmail.com or write to TTE, 6 Lyndhurst Road, Exmouth, EX8 3DT.
