Three Budleigh community groups have received grant aid from Budleigh Salterton Town Council (BSTC).

Budleigh In Bloom – which had previously had its request for funding deferred by the council until it had shown its current accounts – provided additional documentation at the meeting.

Having discussed the matter, councillors agreed a grant of £2,500 as a donation towards watering the town’s extensive flower beds and troughs.

Exmouth and District Community Transport Group – which provides essential transport for the elderly and wheelchair users – was granted £1,500 to keep its buses ‘on the road’.

Budleigh Salterton Football Club was also given a grant.

Councillors heard that the club’s pitch is now used as a emergency helicopter landing site for Devon Air Ambulance and has had to modify its floodlights to allow for this.

Following discussion, councillors agreed a £500 grant for additional lighting.

The awards were made at BSTC’s meeting on February 26.
