EURO FEAR: A Tory euro MP for the region, which includes East Devon, has railed against moves towards a continental ‘superstate’.
Ashley Fox MEP said that last week 11 European foreign ministers began pushing for further European Union integration, including moves towards a European army and an European government.
He said: “In my opinion the whole idea is absurd.
“This is a dangerous push towards the creation of a European federal state which very few in Britain want.”
CELEBRATION: Employees from EDF Energy in Exeter joined Paralympians in London to celebrate the success of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
Staff at EDF Energy’s office in Exeter were invited by the company’s charity partner, the British Paralympic Association, to ParalympicGB House next to the Olympic Park, and headquarters for the British team throughout the games.
There they met and shared their experiences of the Games with Liz Johnson, who won bronze in the 100m breaststroke, and Tom Aggar, who competed in the single sculls rowing final.
