GLOBE CHANGES: Alterations to Topsham’s landmark Globe Hotel have been approved by Exeter City Council.
The changes will see the roof over the Malthouse balcony extended, along with repairs to the balcony itself and new cladding fitted.
BRIDGE DRIVE: A fundraising bridge drive is being held in aid of Exeter charity St Petrock’s.
It takes place at Matthews Hall on February 24, at 2.30pm.
Tickets are free, but donations to St Petrock’s are encouraged, and last year’s event raised more than £1,000.
Tickets are available from Judy Sugden on 01392 874124, the Macklins on 01392 873160, or Miriam Gent on 01392 467288.
PETROCK’S PROJECT: Topsham residents are being offered a new home and garden maintenance service by St Petrock’s.
The charity has set up a new scheme, ‘Project Petrock’, to help get people who are, or who recently have been homeless, back into work.
Working under builder Matt Tandy, volunteers for the project receive on the job training as they carry out the required work.
For a free, no obligation estimate contact Matt on 01392 848713 or 07956 104354.
SOCIETY TALK: A talk on ‘100 years of advertising’ is being given in Topsham.
It is being organised by the Topsham Society, and given by Roger Brien, the chief library officer at the University of Exeter.
The talk takes place at Matthews Hall on February 16. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
Admission is free to Society members, and costs £2 for non-members. Refreshments will be available.
OBSERVING LENT: A series of lent lunches is being held in aid of Christian Aid.
They will be taking place at the rear of St Margaret’s Church, every Friday, between February 24 and March 30, between noon and 1pm.
Soup, bread and cheese will be served, and the suggested minimum donation is £3.50.
CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS: Topsham Museum is holding a coffee morning for prospective volunteers, ahead of its new season.
The event takes place on March 1, between 10.30am and noon.

Existing volunteers are also welcome to attend, and they would also be able to discuss additional roles.
