MULLED wine, mince pies and candy floss were in abundance recently as Topsham celebrated its Christmas lights switch-on. “It was very much a community thing,” said Geoff Bowen, a spokesperson for the group that arranged the event. “We feel in Topsham that that’s the nice way to do it. Keep it small and community, rather than make too big a thing out of it.”
Around 200 people watched the switch-on at 6pm on Tuesday, December 3, and local traders stayed open.
“It was a nice event,” said Geoff. “The traders contributed to it and the public provided donations which paid for the light bulbs.”
