A Topsham man who attacked his lodger with an axe is to face a retrial after a jury were unable to reach a verdict on a charge of attempted murder.
Andrew Barnes has admitted causing grievous bodily harm to victim Luke Down in the attack at his flat in Altamira last September, but denies attempting to kill him.

The jury were discharged after three days of deliberations.
