Topsham people have enjoyed an introduction to birdwatching thanks to St Margaret’s Church.

The Birdwatching for Beginners event was free to attend, and included refreshments at the church afterwards.

This was the second bird watching event St Margaret’s has held, and organiser David Byrne was delighted with the response.

He said: “I though 20 people would be the maximum we could have – in the end we had between 22 and 24, and I had to turn a couple of people away.

“There was a lovely atmosphere, and the people all seemed to enjoy themselves, so I was very pleased.”

David, who describes himself as a birdwatcher but not an expert, had help during the event from an RSPB volunteer and local bird experts, and said the event was part of the church’s effort to engage more with the community.
