An upcoming auction to raise funds for Topsham charity Devon in Sight will feature works by a number of acclaimed artists.

The auction, which will be held at The Art Room in The Strand, will include works by the likes of Benedict and Tessa Rubbra, Margaret and Roger Dean, Ray Balkwill, Peter Thursby, and the late Roy Goddard MBE, who lost his sight to retinitis pigmentosa, and helped raise the money for Devon in Sight to buy its Station House headquarters.

Art Room director Deborah Wood, who used to run the Exeter-based charity ExSight, said: “I have great empathy with organisations such as Devon in Sight, who are providing vital services for people with visual impairments with no government funding.

“Sight problems affect so many of us, especially as we are all living longer, so the demand for such services is only going to increase.

“Hosting this auction is my way of showing appreciation for Devon in Sight, which is after all a local charity based here in Topsham, for the work it does in the community.”

The auction will take place on February 23 at 2.30pm. Viewings will be held on February 21 and February 22, between 11am and 4pm, and on the 23rd between 11am and 2pm.

It is being run free of charge by auctioneers Bearns Hampton and Littlewood, so bidders will not have to pay commission.

The full catalogue for the sale is available online at www.devoninsight.org.uk.
