Dressed in a Santa hat and red Christmas blanket, a miniature four-legged friend dropped in to visit residents at Fernihurst Nursing Home last week.
Mediterranean miniature donkey Juniper, who is the size of a great dane, gave residents a little festive cheer at the Douglas Avenue nursing home.
The 13-year-old, who is from The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, is renowned for his gentle nature and loves meeting people.
The home’s receptionist Jessica Frizell said: “Our residents absolutely love the visits from donkeys – their faces light up whenever they see them and it is the perfect way to put us all in the mood for Christmas.”
Care home manager Alison Robertson said: “Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the visit and thought Juniper was very sweet - there were smiles all round.
“Some of the residents’ great grandchildren were here too and they were over the moon to see Juniper. What better way to get into the festive spirit.”
